Had it not been for 1983’s Don’t Cheat in Our Hometown, country music might never have known Ricky Skaggs as they’ve come to know and love him today. It’s a little known fact that a tape of ‘roughs’ that would become Ricky’s third venture into the country music mainstream is the music that secured his record deal in the first place. He’d been working on his second release for a smaller label when divine intervention put him on an airplane with a country music record executive.
